Long versus short content articles.
I know sycophancy isn’t a pretty quality but I’m a huge fan of Jakob Nielsen, the guru of web usability. Once again this guy is right on the button with the following article on the length of website content. It would be an injustice to try and surmise and I would strongly recommend you read the article in full. However there is one aspect in his recommendation in relation to whether your website should have concise or in-depth content;
‘If you want many readers, focus on short and scannable content. This is a good strategy for advertising- driven sites or sites that sell impulse buys.’
‘If you want people who really need a solution, focus on comprehensive coverage. This is a good strategy if you sell highly targeted solutions to complicated problems.’
The recommendation then suggests you make use of a good old fashion tool known as the hyperlink.
